Ahmad R. Smith
Ahmad R. Smith was born in Jackson, where he has lived most of his life. He received a Bachelor of Science in economics with an emphasis in business administration from Tougaloo College in 2003. Subsequently, he acquired insurance producer licenses and became an Allstate Insurance agent for several years before reviving his academic pursuits at Mississippi College School of Law. While a law student, Ahmad wrote several published articles discussing criminal justice reform. He had the privilege of presenting his published work to peers at various academic conferences throughout the country.
Upon graduating from law school in 2013, Ahmad procured state and federal judicial clerkships, where he had the privilege of learning from two highly esteemed judges. His continued love for the practice of law, as well as the manner in which he approaches his legal profession are greatly informed by these experiences.
Following his work for the judiciary, Ahmad gained invaluable knowledge and training as a special assistant attorney general for the Office of the Attorney General of Mississippi. Ahmad later became an associate attorney at Forman Watkins & Krutz, LLP, where his practice focused on mass tort defense, insurance coverage and bad faith defense, and defending against premises liability claims.
Driven by a strong conviction to apply his skillset to service individuals faced with daunting legal challenges, he established A.R. Smith Law, PLLC in 2020. This commitment to community, as well as his passion for social change, are demonstrated through Ahmad’s various volunteer endeavors. He is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., the Magnolia Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar Association, the Mississippi Congressional Black Caucus Leadership Institute, the Capital Area Bar Association, and the Charles Clark Inns of Court.
Ahmad is happily married and blessed with two beautiful children.
